Leather Care Guide

At Boho Buffalo, we believe your wardrobe should have soul, a story, and a serious feel-good factor. Products aren't just accessories; they are your companions for the road ahead. Because our pieces are crafted from premium leathers and suedes, they are built to last—but they do need a little high-vibe hustle to keep them looking Nashville-glam for years to come.

Here is how to keep your Boho Buffalo treasures in peak condition.

1. The Magic Touch: Renapur Leather Balsam

Whether it’s your favorite leather crossbody or those statement boots, keeping the material supple is the secret to a long life. We swear by Renapur Leather Balsam.

  • What it is: A natural, soul-soothing blend of beeswax and jojoba oil.

  • Why we love it: It’s an outlaw’s best friend. It cleans, conditions, and helps waterproof your leather in one go. It’s non-greasy, won’t transfer to your clothes, and keeps the leather breathable—perfect for the girl on the move.

  • How to use: A little goes a long way. Just a small amount on a sponge, and you're ready to hit the festival circuit.

2. Respect the Shape: Padded Hangers

Your leather jackets and vests are heavy hitters, and they deserve better than a flimsy wire hanger. Thin hangers can cause "shoulder nipples" and permanently misshape the silhouette of your garment.

3. Suede & Nubuck Soul Care

Suede is the sensitive sibling of the leather family. It loves the spotlight but hates the rain!

  • Brush it out: Invest in a suede brush (brass or crepe). Give your fringe or boots a gentle brush after every few wears to "wake up" the nap and flick away any dust from your adventures.

  • Shield your style: Before you take your new suede pieces out for a spin, hit them with a high-quality protector spray. It creates an invisible barrier against the elements.

  • EJ's top tip: Keep a new toothbrush spare to rub out any small marks or dry mud. Talcum powder can work for bigger marks or sticky residue.

4. Storage Secrets

  • Let it breathe: Leather is a natural material and needs air. Never store your bags or jackets in plastic bags—this can lead to mold. Use cotton dust bags or even an old pillowcase to keep the dust off while letting the leather breathe.

  • The Stuffing: To keep your bags looking structured and beautiful, lightly stuff them with acid-free tissue paper when they aren't on your arm. This prevents those heavy leather folds from creasing.

  • Boot Care: Use cedar shoe trees or boot stands to keep your western boots upright. It stops the ankles from sagging and helps absorb any moisture after a long day of dancing.

  • EJ's top tip: Keep away from direct sunlight for long periods of storing as this can fade the colour over time.

Boho Tip: If you get caught in a downpour, don't panic! Let your leather dry naturally at room temperature. Never put it on a radiator—heat is the enemy and will turn your supple leather brittle. Just hang it up, let it air dry, and then treat it with a little Renapur love once it's dry.
